Jim Buckley
Treasurer

Jim is a retired middle school special education teacher in Northern Westchester BOCES, Peekskill, and

for the last 30 years in Irvington. He and his family moved to Yonkers in 1995 where his 2 children

attended the public schools and the family spent many hours in the Library. He is a former trustee of

YPL.  Jim grew up in Tarrytown where, as an asthmatic youngster, he spent many days confined to bed.

Reading was his passion and salvation. When the librarian told him, “You’ve read all of the books in the

children’s section, here’s your adult card,” he was in heaven. Being a trustee of the Library and then a

director of the Foundation Board is a way for Jim to support the wonderful programs at YPL and give

back to institutions that did so much to shape him.
